Bucyrus Copper Kettle Works, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and located just one block south of the Lincoln Highway, is the last hand-hammered copper kettle shop in America. Founded in 1874 as D. Picking and Company, the shop was operated by four generations of the Picking family until it was renamed in 2015. Today, skilled coppersmiths still use original 19th-century patterns and machinery to craft apple butter kettles—the same kind used by Cooper’s Mill—along with kettles for preserves, candy, and caramel corn, as well as decorative items, ladles, skimmers, coal hods, and custom pieces. The shop also specializes in repairs and refurbishments. Visitors can observe blacksmiths at the forge and explore heirloom artifacts and historic photographs on display. Notably, Bucyrus Copper Kettle Works also produces handcrafted tympani shells, treasured by orchestras worldwide for their unique, resonant sound. As it honors its remarkable heritage, the shop is embracing new growth and innovation, ensuring that this historic craft continues to thrive in Bucyrus.

Liberty Remembers is the second mural painted in Bucyrus by nationally recognized artist Eric Grohe. Completed in November 2001 after beginning in June of that year, the powerful mural features Lady Liberty cradling a dying soldier, surrounded by the faces of 285 Crawford County veterans—both living and deceased—who served from the American Revolution through 2001. The mural was created through a community-wide call for submissions, which generated over 500 entries in just two weeks, resulting in a room filled with photos, letters, and personal memorabilia. A pictorial legend of the featured veterans is available at bucyrusohio.com, and an informational sign is also placed in front of the mural for visitors. Liberty Remembers stands as a moving tribute to the sacrifices of local heroes and remains a cherished landmark in the heart of Bucyrus.
